Choosing the Right Roof Sheet for Your Home

Choosing the Right Roof Sheet for Your Home

Pick the right roof sheet for your home to make sure it is optimum in terms of function and appearance, and that can only be done with professional roofing help.

It depends on where it is located and on the climate Metal, polycarbonate, and plastic roofs are some of the more common roofs.

Corrugated Steel
Steel roof tiles are a stylish, practical alternative. Galvanised finish not only prevent corrosion but provides a durable surface to help keep your roof against damage. Furthermore, there are multiple finishes and colors to choose from, so you can choose one that matches the design of your property.

Corrugated steel roofs work wonders for commercial mega projects and residential garages, and can be easily attached to concrete and timber frame buildings.

Get its frame ready before installing your roof sheet by taking away old roof sheets and dusting its surface. Once that is done, take the measured and cut steel sheet, once put on their frames, lay them on the frame so that they are about 2 inches apart – to resist rain and wind erosion – and even out sheets – as not to have any corrosion between them if gaps get too large.

Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate sheets are thin thermoplastic sheets which are very heat, impact and UV resistant. Lightweight and versatile, polycarbonate is easy to spruce up for any roofing application, whether patio, garden shed, greenhouse, conservatory or lean-to roof.

These plastics can handle high winds and heavy rains without corrosion, are easy to clean without yellowing – just what you need to create commercial building awnings from.

Polycarbonate sheet comes in various colours and variants from clear to multicolored. Or, you can also go with foam-backed or corrugated polycarbonate sheeting, as the foam backing seals buildings while saving energy and avoiding the transfer of excess heat or cold to interior spaces.

Bitumen
Bitumen roof sheeting is a durable roof membrane based on waterproofing and fire retardant materials. A must have in your steel and wood construction shed, barn, zoo, or industrial roofing applications – Coroline has 2.6mm corrugated bitumen black sheets that come with a 15 year waterproofing warranty!

– First, treat a fibrous base sheet (paper, felt, woven/non-woven texture or glass downy) with liquid bitumen, and then coat one or both sides of an engineered polymer film or metal foil with sufficiently thick surface layer(s).

APP or SBS may also be used to apply a unique rubber polymer (APP or SBS) to the base sheet which will strengthen the membrane and soften it as compared to regular felt, which is useful especially for roof surfaces with a lot of penetrations. Breathable membranes make moisture vapour that’s in there easily exit the building – energy efficiency.

Glass-Reinforced Plastic
GRP (Fibreglass) is a highly durable material used in roofing, wall panels and flooring. Made from glass fibres & polymers to give its signature texture – giving you durability and waterproof protection when outside.

Fiberglass is cheap, light but very tough and doesn’t get corroded or absorb water. It’s also very versatile, easy to cut into any shape you like and available in a range of colors to satisfy every style request. Fiberglass’ transparent nature allows light to enter the structure without the need for an artificial light source saving energy even further.

Powerful materials such as polycarbonate are excellent for bulletproof windows and shields, CD sleeves and case cases for glasses; not to mention that these materials are very resistant to damage.
